When someone else got it wrong, this is where it gets put right. Box dye gone dark, blonde turned brassy, balayage grown out in bands, a colour another salon said couldn't be saved. This is what I do every single week.

FIXING COLOUR IS NOT THE SAME AS COLOURING HAIR

A normal colour appointment adds one result on top of healthy hair. A correction has to undo what is already there first, then rebuild toward the shade you actually wanted, without wrecking the hair in the process. Every head is a different puzzle, so I never promise a result before I have read your hair. I promise you honesty, a real plan, and colour that suits you or it does not happen.

THE FULL PROCESS, AND THE WHY BEHIND EVERY STEP

1. THE CONSULTATION

We sit down before anything touches your hair. I look at your natural colour, your history of box dye, highlights, henna or previous corrections, the condition of the hair and the shade you are dreaming of. Bring photos of what you love and what you hate. This is where I tell you honestly what is realistic and how many visits it will take.

2. THE SKIN TEST, 48 HOURS BEFORE

If it has been a while since your last colour with me, or your health has changed, we do a small skin test behind the ear or inside the elbow at least 48 hours before your appointment. It checks your skin does not react to the colour ingredients.

Why, explained simply: It is like trying one bite before eating a whole meal you have never had. A tiny test keeps you safe, because a reaction on your whole scalp is a very bad day.

3. THE STRAND TEST, THE ONE THAT DECIDES EVERYTHING

I take a small hidden section of your hair and run the intended process on that piece first. I watch how it lifts, what tone it turns, how fast it moves and how the hair holds up. This tells me your true starting point, the timing, and whether the hair can take the whole journey in one go or needs to be spread out.

Why, explained simply: Think of it as a tiny practice run on one little bit of hair. If it goes well, we carry on. If it does not, we learned that on a hidden strand instead of on your whole head.

4. THE HONEST PLAN AND TIMELINE

Now I show you the map. Sometimes a correction is one long session. Often it is two or three visits spaced out, because pushing hair too far too fast is how hair snaps. I will tell you the number of sessions, the rough investment and the gaps between them before we begin. No surprises halfway through.

Why, explained simply: You would not run a marathon without training first. Big colour changes need to happen in stages so the hair stays strong the whole way.

5. THE CORRECTION ITSELF

This is the work. Depending on your hair it might mean lifting old colour out, removing a stubborn build up of dye, colour filling to put missing warmth back in, or a mix of all three. I work in sections, checking constantly, because a correction is live and I adjust as the hair responds.

Why, explained simply: It is like carefully rubbing out the wrong bits of a drawing before you redraw them. Rush the rubbing out and you tear the paper, so I go slow and keep checking.

6. BOND BUILDING AND PROTECTING THE HAIR

All the way through I use bond building products that support the inside structure of each strand. Correction is demanding on hair, so protecting its strength is built into how I work.

Why, explained simply: Hair has tiny scaffolding inside it that keeps it strong. Bond builder is like sending in little repair workers to hold that scaffolding up while we do the big job around it.

7. TONING AND THE FINISH

Once the base is right, toning refines it into the exact shade, cools down any brass or evens out warmth so the colour looks intentional and expensive. Then it is cut, dried and styled so you see the finished result.

Why, explained simply: Lifting the colour is like sanding a wall back. Toning is the final coat of paint that makes it the exact colour you pictured.

8. AFTERCARE AND YOUR MAINTENANCE PLAN

A correction is an investment, so I send you home knowing how to protect it. The right shampoo, how often to tone, heat protection and when to come back.

Why, explained simply: It is like watering a plant after you have grown it. A little looking after at home keeps it healthy instead of fading fast.

But I will be honest about what is realistic, what it takes to get there and how long it actually needs. No false promises. If it is not right, you are not leaving my chair.

Can you fix box dye?

Very often yes.

Box dye builds up dark and stubborn, so it usually takes patience and sometimes more than one session, but correcting box colour is one of the most common things I do.

Why can't you do it all in one appointment?

Sometimes I can. Often I can't, because taking hair too far too fast is how it breaks. Splitting a big change across sessions protects your hair.

Will my hair be damaged?

Correction is demanding, so I build bond protection into every step and will never push your hair past what it can take.

 

How much does it cost?
